Hemp Feed Cattle
Michael Kleinhenz DVM, PhD is the Assistant Professor/Beef Production Medicine at Kansas State University. Dr. Kleinhenz published study that he conducted was on the use of cannabis in agriculture and animals. The research group was interested in hemp as an agricultural feed for cattle. The USDA free up industrial hemp production for cannabinoids, and the research group explored using it for cattle analgesia. They went on to study hemp as feed for cattle. The shafts left over after seeds and leaves are removed proved to be a viable feed source. Nutrient analysis proved good as it proved another viable use of one of the most versatile plants in the world. Catch the details in this interview.

Know the Tax Laws!
Nick Richards ESQ is a former IRS attorney who is now a Partner in the Tax practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. Tax laws have become a concern to anyone entering the cannabis business. Mr. Richards tells us about the 8300 tax form that came out of the Bank Secrecy Act which hold the federal anti-money laundering statutes. Dispensaries, like all business, must file the form when they receive more than $10,000 in cash. It is the same for bank deposits. The form 8300 requires personal information from a larger purchase buyer to be given to the government. If the cultivator does not file the form, and this information is not reported, then penalties can be severe. On top of that, cannabis businesses get audited a lot.
