This proved to be an enormous revenue producing industry, not only for the companies that grow and distribute marijuana, but also for the state that collects more than $1 billion in taxes overall. The enormous economic possibilities reached entrepreneurs who profited, it created new jobs in the market, and it allowed the state benefit from previously untapped revenues.

Clinical Research on the Benefits of Cannabis

Brent Zettl is President and CEO of Zyus Life Sciences which is focused on advancing the science of wellbeing. In their 18 years of study they researched the use of cannabis as treatment for chronic and neuropathic pain, and for neopsychology research into depression, anxiety and PTSD. They advanced from anecdotal evidence from patients to a more clinical setting study. Prior to prohibition, 28% of a doctor’s toolkit were cannabis based. Prohibition wiped out this treatment.
